With MEPs presenting the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought on the one hand, and the head of the audiovisual service Anne-Margrete Wachtmeister preventing a Portuguese journalist from filming images of the strike of the auxiliaries-session of the Parliament of somewhere else. MEPs who vote for the creation of a fund intended to financially help employees who are victims of globalization on the one hand, and an administration which unceremoniously separates itself from its cameramen, directors and other cameramen following procedures which, at the very least, raise questions. (La Libre on 01\/05\/2007)<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Here is a new illustration of a widespread factor in the discrediting of institutions: we speak, we dispose, we legislate for others, but we are incapable of applying the same requirements to ourselves. The observation is equally true of public administrations which claim to regulate the private sector and promote positive changes there, but which are archaic and undermanage their personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This contradiction is one of the fundamental causes of disenchantment with politics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It is one of the most urgent reforms to undertake to modernize the modes of government, which includes the functioning of the political world and that of administrations. Moving, in short, to a more modest, more competent, more coherent State, which does what it says, keeps its promises, sets an example, and is not content with abstract declarations and aims for the sole use of others .<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>European Parliament: the worst shoemaker The European Parliament is a bit Janus.
