The SocioPolitical Objectives of the Recourse to Immigration

by Patrick HUNOUT

SUMMARY

This chapter shows which are the reasons of the recourse to immigration in a last resort, notably in terms of class relations and class structure. It shows how immigration has always had as an effect to maintain and strengthen the previous class structure in the receiving countries, notably by lowering the cost of labor and reconstructing a new working class when it was disappearing.
